Intermediate Potions Day 1

Intermediate Potions Day 1 Empty Intermediate Potions Day 1

Post by Professor Marshbanks Mon Aug 01, 2011 10:30 pm

"In intermediate potions, you will learn the qualities of tricky magical components and create more complex potions than in beginners. As it takes a little while to stew on its own, we will be making a calming potion. These potions are most usefull for self application during stressful times such as exams week." I wave my wand and the recipe appears. "Please also describe the six most useful parts of a dragon before beginning the potion." ((OOC: check the Harry Potter lexicon and pm me the answers, I will give points to some of the first ones who send the right answers))
I turn back to my book as the students turn to their parchments.
It's effect is quite similar to a draught of peace although a learned potioneer should know...

Intermediate Potions Day 1 Empty Re: Intermediate Potions Day 1

After writing down the six most useful parts of a dragon, I took my time making sure that I had everything I needed specified for the potion. I began to make the potion following the instructions on the board and making sure I was taking my time.

I consider myself fairly average at Potions, so I'm looking forward to class today. I walk into class, and see only Auron seated. I go sit next to him, and wave, seeing that he's in deep concentration. I sit, and begin writing down the 6 most useful parts of a dragon (OOC: On HPL, there was 7?) I begin making the potion, and make sure I don't do anything wrong. We don't want a replay of what happened to Amber last year...

I was so excited for Potions today! It's one of my best classes. I sit down in the 2nd row of tables, and begin writing. After I'm done, I start on the potion. This is so, fun, and after the explosion last year, I've gotten so much better! I think to myself.

Intermediate Potions Day 1 Empty Re: Intermediate Potions Day 1

I walk into Potions, and see Auron and Arora sitting together. I walk over, and sit in front of them. I take out my quill, and write down the 6 most useful parts of a dragon, and then began working on the potion. I worked slowly, but steadily. It was turning to be a pretty good batch, if I do say so myself.

I worked hard on my potion. I was decent, but not amazing. I could usually produce the required potion by the end of class, but I was nowhere near perfect.
"Alright... Just a bit longer," I say as I let it simmer for a bit.
I look over at the others, who all seem to be about the same as me at the moment, which makes me feel a tad more confident.

I smile. Potions was one of my best subjects. I quickly wrote down the answers to her question, then began to work on my calming potion. I finish adding all of the ingredients way before anyone else, then just sit there and watch it stew. I'm completely confident that I've made it right, and looking around at the other cauldrons, I see the different stages my potion reached. No one else is nearing completion, so I sit and wait.

Taking a moment away from my potion, I return Arora's wave and nod to Luke. He nodded back as he began his work. It was sometimes hard to be social in Potions depending on what potion you were brewing. Certain ones took absolute care in the process while you could be more lax with others. I always focus on either one, making sure I was doing everything correctly. Of course when you got to certain stages in the brewing process, you would have to wait to add other ingredients or at least give the ingredients time to react.
"So I heard there was an explosion last year," I mentioned to the others carefully monitoring my potion.
"Um....well..." began Arora, kind of laughing at the memory.

"Yup. But it was AMBER'S fault!" I said, raising my voice.
"Yeah, maybe. But we WERE partners!" she said,
"Yeah, yeah. Not a big deal," I say, smiling.
"Not true! I heard it all the way from Herbology!" Xale said
"Okay, okay! I get it!" I say, defeated.

(OOC: haha, fail)

Intermediate Potions Day 1 Empty Re: Intermediate Potions Day 1

Potions was, and is, my favorite subject. I was definitely excited for todays class. When the professor set the question, it was no problem at all to answer it. I turned it in and set up my cauldron to start the potion.

As I was working getting everything just right, my potion turning the exact shade it should be, I overhear some of the other students talking about the explosion next year. I remembered that all to clearly.

Feeling a bit nervous knowing these kids were in my class that caused it, I jokingly ask, "Should I move my cauldron?"

I laughed at this Slytherin's (Adrina?) joke.
"Hey, don't look at me!" Arora says, pointing at me
"No, I've definitely improved since then." I say, embarassed.
"Okay..." she says, smiling.
"So, anyone else done?" I here Luke asking.
"No, I want to make sure I get it right. I like my eyebrows." I say, fixing my eyebrows as an afterthought.
"Okay. You do that." Luke scoffs
"I will, thank you very much." I say, not wanting to hurt his/Arora's (mainly Arora's) feelings.
"So, what's everyone doing for lunch?" Arora asks

I make my potion slowly, not really paying attention. I'm usually okay at potions, so I don't worry. I just sit there and think about that Slytherin boy and what to do about him. Maybe convince Anyla he's evil and then get her to hurt him somehow... I don't know... All I know is that I need to get her away from him...

"Well just make sure I'm cleared from the blast radius alright," I joked smiling at Arora and Luke.
"Or that I have time to use him as a shield," Xale comments as we all laugh. My potion looked ready so I went ahead and flasked some and walked over to the Professor's desk.
"How do you think this looks, Professor Marshbanks?" I asked handing her the flask.
